1 month & 9 days until Christmas

Orchard Road and Paragon here in Singapore are already decorated and ready for Christmas. The other week I soaked up the pre-Christmas atmosphere (in 31 degrees and humidity!) and bought some funny Christmas greeting cards.
Part of the scene has a theme, which is Xmas with an attitude, so there is a lot of non-traditional, but fun decor all over the street and shopping mall.

Blog design

Currently updating my blog layout...

Photo wallpaper

I have this interior idea. For my next apartment it would be fun to use one of my own photos as wallpaper for one of the walls. Maybe the one below? If that is not possible I can always gor for the safe bet and frame some of my photos and hang them on the wall instead ;)

What you do today is important

Some inspirational quotes and pictures I have saved.

"What you do today is important because you are exchanging a whole day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; and in its place will be something that you had left behind... let it be something good."
The wedding picture was taken by Jonas Peterson, who I have adored since he just got to Australia and wrote a blog about being mistaken for a rockstar due to his Swedish indie fashion style, buying 'duck art' drunk and writing wonderful words about life on St Kilda Road. ♥

Going out or staying in?

It's wednesday today and in Singapore that of course means Ladies Night. It has been too long... But I think I will stay in tonight. Since I am a quarter of a century old I can decide when I need to rest (or write more on a school project), even when there is a Double Birthday Bash and everyone will go to Butter Factory, a club I still have not been to... :o)

*Update: I went to congratulate the Birthday kids and socialized for a bit. Now I am enjoying being on my own back home at the penthouse.

Last presentation at NUS & a quote

"You will feel better if you notice the sweetness of life. Notice the smiles of children, the songs of the birds, the caress of the sun's warmth. This sweetness is for you. Allow it to soothe your soul and bring a smile to your face."

Well I might feel a bit poetic cause today was my last presentation ever at NUS! About our Code of Ethics project for my PR class. Got some papers and reports to finish off still but they're all in the second draft version now, wohoo!

Pictures from Hong Kong

How about some pics from my trip to Hong Kong? Had so much fun with Yulia, my friend from uni in Sweden, who is working in China at the moment. So happy she got to meet some of the people I have been getting to know during my studies in Singapore as well. ♥

Singapore Airport is so pretty with all of the orchids, I love being there. (Used to enjoy each stopover there on my way to and from Australia even before I decided to study in Singapore. SG was always calling me I guess, and now I live there...) Now it was time to fly to Hong Kong. But first...My little airport tradition, TWG macarons! I love the one with passionfruit.
One flight later... I am reunited with my friend Yulia and we took a bus from the airport to the city center. On the way, I got to try some rice treats Yulia had brought with her from China. Then it was check-in time at the Island Pacific Hotel! The hotel is welcoming a "Mr." with my last name on the in-room screen. Wonder where he is? ;)
Time to explore the city of Hong Kong! We stayed close to Seafood street and started there, enjoying the atmosphere, walking around and getting some snapshots.
We just let ourselves "get lost" in Hong Kong for a bunch of hours. So much life in this city, as one of my friends said. I really agree. Singapore is a bit more 'polished'.
When it got dark we headed back to the hotel room to jump on the hotel beds and get ready for a night out! :) Time for some yummy dinner! We had lots of tasty dishes such as noodles and dumplings at a great local place.
Belly full and happy we headed out to meet my friends from Singapore for a cocktail at the highest bar of the world, at the Ritz-Carlton hotel on the other side of the river. Such an amazing view of the city at night - Breathtaking! Somehow we decided to do some bar-hopping at Lan Kwai Fong after that. Lots of students from all over the world, so not really traditional local culture. :)
The day after we started with ice cold coffee drinks and did some fun sightseeing by bus. We also took the Peak Tram for a scenic view of the city from above.
We went to use the loo at Bubba Gump Shrimps just to have been to the place. Forrest Gump fans... ♥ Outside we saw interesting warning signs that really ought to get the message across :D And then we had lunch at a local place, simply pointing out different things on the menu to try.
An exciting weekend getaway! But now it was already time to head home to Singapore... Thank you for all the memories, Hong Kong! I would love to come back soon! ♥

Singapore Zoo

One day we went on a date to Singapore Zoo! So much fun to go on daytime dates. All the sudden it started pouring rain so we made sure to hide under our cute bright green and yellow Singapore Zoo ponchos until it stopped. Afterwards we could go back out to meet all of the animals! ♥

Memories from Perhentian Island

I remember when we sat by the ocean watching the stars. ♥

Asian hair treatment in Singapore

Yesterday I went back to the same salon that took care of my cut and style the other week, Jean Yip at Vivo here in Singapore. If you remember, I had long blonde hair and highlights when I moved here. But recently, my hair was dehydrated from sunbathing and swimming in the ocean and thus, soaked up the hair color more intensely which resulted in a way darker color that I intended at first.

Now I love it though, and as I said before I'll be able to enjoy seeing my hair getting lighter and lighter shortly due to the sun over here anyways. My hair is so shiny now, I love Asian hair treatments!

GObama!

Thank god, Obama won! Now the US may proceed towards the future, who knows where R would have taken them...

Team Brunette & Fullerton Bay Hotel

So I went to get my hair dyed, a switch from blonde to brown hair and tried a typical Asian treatment (actually two hehe) as well. Never spoiled myself this much before... The color came out slightly darker than I wanted, but this way I get to try all shades of brown on the way to brighter hair again.

Afterwards I went shopping, bought this cute dark blue dress... Later I met the girls for the best ladies night so far. At Fullerton Bay hotel, it is even better than Marina Bay Sands and from now on it is my favourite place in the city.

Gorgeous view and a roof top pool and bar area which is just too relaxed and wonderful not to love it. Also we get a great view of the Marina Bay Sands hotel, so double score! It's like with the Tour de Montparnasse in Paris, when you're on it you get the view and the Eiffel tower; while being on top of the Eiffel tower gives you - just the view...

Snapshots from Hong Kong

More photos to come - exciting! :) I had the best trip to Hong Kong! But now its almost 6.30 am (most people will go up soon) and I have not fallen asleep yet.

I gotta let go of all papers and project work and get some sleep before our mock presentations...good night...and good morning!

Gone to Hong Kong!

Going away to Hong Kong for the weekend!

A flight to catch

Look at that break of dawn view from my room! It's 4 am I am finally done with my course work and done packing. But I am worried that I will not wake up in time for my flight to Hong Kong if I go to bed now... What a conundrum! :(

Retail therapy & packing for Hong Kong

Did some retail therapy after my group meeting today. I went all in at H&M (I'm such a Swede!) and I swear I looked at everything at least twice before I left the store to go to Cotton on.

The good thing is that I packed my bag for Hong Kong within 5 minutes; just took all I bought and voilá, done! Got a bit more than 6 hours until I have to get up and get a cab to the airport. Luckily I have group work before bedtime...who needs sleep? ;) /Jas

You Only Live Once

I'm going to exciting Hong Kong this weekend, even though we're not done with school yet. Why? You only live once! Talking about YOLO, no other than Yulia, who is working in China right now will join me on my Hong Kong trip, I can't wait! Adding a pic of us at the beach in Sweden last summer. :)

Almost done studying!

I'm done with my last exam at FASS (Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences) here at NUS. I had one exam last week and then one more this wednesday; now it's just project work left. The thing is that the project work is the biggest part... But I will make it! And then I will travel shitloads to make up for all the hard work. :o) /Jas
